Brandveiligheid in studentenwoningen

Hé student!

Hou jij je studentenhuis of -kamer een beetje brandveilig? Check de tips.

• Telefoon onder je kussen? Leer dan meteen ook een brand te blussen!
  Je telefoon en oplader kunnen warm worden tijdens het opladen. Leg je telefoon dus op een tafel of nachtkastje waar deze zijn warmte kwijt kan.
   
• Laat je bittergarnituur niet alleen. Een frituurpan is VET gevaarlijk!
  Door oververhitting kan een frituurpan vlamvatten, blijf daarom altijd bij de frituurpan in de buurt. 
  Toch brand? Zet de frituurpan en de afzuigkap uit en sluit de pan af met een deksel. Is de brand groter dan een voetbal: blus de brand niet zelf, verlaat je woning verlaat je woning en bel 112!
   
• Gebruik originele opladers! En haal de stekker op tijd uit het stopcontact
  Originele opladers zorgen voor de juiste omvorming van de stroom uit het stopcontact naar de stekker van je mobiel. Dit voorkomt de kans op korstsluiting en oververhitting.
  Trek je oplader uit het stopcontact als je hem niet gebruikt. Hiermee voorkom je dat de oplader oververhit raakt en vlamvat.
   
• Heb jij een rookmelder?
  3 minuten... Dat is de tijd die je hebt om bij een woningbrand je huis te verlaten. In die korte tijd is een rookmelder heel erg belangrijk. Die maakt je wakker, zodat jij snel je huis kunt verlaten. Wist je dat je in je slaap helemaal niets ruikt? Een rookmelder is een kleine aanpassing, maar kan veel betekenen voor jouw veiligheid. Neem hierover contact op met je huisbaas.

Here are some tips on how you can improve fire safety in your student accommodation. Check the following tips.

• If you sleep with your phone under your pillow, you might as well learn how to put out a fire!
  Your phone and charger can get really hot while charging. Put your phone on a table or bedside table where it's possible for the heat to escape.
   
• Don’t walk away when you’re frying food - a deep fat fryer can be really dangerous
  Overheating can cause the oil to catch fire, so always keep an eye on your deep fat fryer. 
  If there’s a fire, turn off the deep fat fryer and the extractor fan and put a lid on the pan. If the fire is larger than a football: do not extinguish it yourself, leave the premises and call 112!
   
• Use original chargers and unplug your charger from the socket when you’re finished
  By using original chargers, the power from the wall socket is converted correctly to your mobile's connector. This eliminates the risk of short-circuiting and overheating.
  Make sure you unplug your charger when not in use. This will stop the charger from overheating and catching fire.
   

• Get a smoke detector fitted
  3 minutes... That’s all the time you have to escape if there’s a fire. And that’s why a smoke detector is so important. It will wake you up so you can quickly leave the building. Did you know that when you are asleep, you have no sense of smell? It doesn’t take much to fit a smoke detector, but it can mean the difference between life and death. If your accommodation doesn’t have one, please contact your landlord.
