Aliens’ passport
General
If you live in the Netherlands, do not have Dutch nationality, but have a type I or II Dutch residence permit, you can apply for an aliens' passport. Make an appointment with the council.
What you need to know
The aliens' passport is subject to a number of conditions:
- you have a permanent or temporary ordinary Dutch residence permit
- you cannot request a passport from your own authorities
- you are registered in Breda
How long does the application process take
It will take approximately 2 months. We will tell you when you can collect your passport. You can collect your passport from service desk 10 at Breda Council. You do not need to make an appointment.
What you need to bring along
For an adult aliens' passport, bring along
- your permanent or temporary ordinary residence permit
- proof (if possible) that your own country will not issue a passport (e.g. a letter telling you this)
- a passport photo, not older than 6 months, that meets the requirements
- all of your Dutch and foreign passports, even if these are no longer valid
- if your aliens' passport has been lost or stolen, bring a different valid identity document with you
- debit card or credit card
For a child's aliens' passport, bring along
- the child's permanent or temporary ordinary residence permit
- proof (if possible) that your own country will not issue a passport (e.g. a letter telling you this)
- passport photo, not older than 6 months, that meets the requirements
- all of the child's Dutch and foreign passports, even if these are no longer valid
- if the aliens' passport has been lost or stolen, bring a different valid identity document with you
- the child himself/herself, both when the passport is requested and collected
- debit card or credit card
Consent
To apply for a passport, up to the age of 18 years consent is required from the parent(s) or the person who has parental authority. Both parents provide consent online, each person individually using their own DigiD.
If (both) parents have provided their online consent, they do not have to be present during the application process at the service desk.
