Moving abroad

General

Do you live abroad for at least 8 months within a 12-month period, or do you expect to do so? Or are you planning to emigrate? Tell the council about this.

The form is in Dutch. If you need assistance please call 14 076.

Who can notify the council of a change of address?

  • Anyone aged 16 years or older.
  • Spouses or registered partners and adult children if they move together from the same address to another country.
  • Parent, guardian or carer of minors moving abroad with them.
  • One of the parents if the entire family moves from the same address to another country.
  • An adult who is authorised in writing by the person moving.

As things are so busy at the moment, appointments are only available in the very near future. Calling the council will give you the same options as the form on this page. If other people cancel an appointment, a time slot could become available. Please check this page regularly.

What you need to know

  • You need to tell us if you are or plan to be abroad for at least 8 months within a 12-month period. This includes a long trip abroad, an extended stay abroad for work, study or an internship, or permanent relocation (emigration). The 8 months do not have to be consecutive.
  • Tell the council about your departure well in advance. Tell us about this no more than 1 month before you travel abroad for an extended period, or move abroad (emigrate). Your change of address will then take effect on the day you leave the country.
  • If you tell us after you've already left, the change of address will take effect on the day you tell us about your departure or relocation.
