Waste disposal pass

The underground rubbish container can be opened using a waste disposal pass. To open the underground rubbish container, place the pass on the display. If you have lost or damaged your pass, if your pass isn't working or if no pass had been left in your new house when you moved in, request a new pass.

What you need to know

  • The waste disposal pass belongs to the council and is loaned to you.
  • When you move house, you do not take the waste disposal pass with you but leave this at your old house.  
  • People living in the city centre have waste disposal passes to present their waste for collection by the garbage truck, or waste can be presented next to the bicycle storage area Oude Vest or Nieuwstraat.
  • Households in the suburbs do not have waste disposal passes as there are no underground containers in these areas.

What you need to know

  • The municipality will investigate why the waste disposal pass isn't working
  • If the waste disposal pass shows no visible damage, a new waste disposal pass will be sent to you free of charge within 5 working days.
  • If the waste disposal pass is visibly damaged, you request a replacement waste disposal pass. A replacement waste disposal pass will cost € 15,75.
How can we check the waste disposal pass? Required

You can apply for a new pass free of charge for up to 6 weeks after moving into your new home. After 6 weeks, a new waste disposal pass will cost € 15.

Bring your waste disposal pass along to the Waste Service desk, Slingerweg 9. Your pass will be checked at the desk. 

Make a note of your telephone number and inform us that your pass isn't working. Send this note and the waste disposal pass to:

You can apply for a second waste disposal pass if you have a multi-person household. De second waste disposal pass is free of charge.

If there are no local underground rubbish containers yet, you can't request a new waste disposal pass. Send a message using the e-mail form and also provide your new address.

Why are you requesting a new or replacement waste disposal pass? Required

Collecting data

The council does not collect or register any data relating to you through the waste disposal pass or the chip in the container. The underground waste container does register the total number of deposits. This means the container can be emptied on time.
