Your objection may be dealt with informally

An informal solution might be suitable for your objection. If so, a council employee will call you within 5 working days to discuss what is happening and what you are expecting. We will look at the options with you.

Your objection may be dealt with formally

Isn't an informal approach suitable for your objection, or have you had a meeting but you still don't agree with the decision? If so, the council will deal with your objection formally. Another employee will then look again at your objection.

Hearing

You can explain your objection during a hearing. This is only if you want to. Legal employees are at the hearing and you can ask them questions. They ask questions and explain the process. The decision will also be explained.

Hearing by external advisory committee

During this procedure, you can also explain your objection during a hearing. You may be invited to a hearing of the Advisory Committee on Objections. The committee consists of three independent experts. One of them leads the discussion as the chairperson. The Committee asks questions about, for example, any ambiguities surrounding the decision and the explanation of the objections. If necessary, the Committee also provides explanations about laws and regulations. Check the agenda (Dutch) for the next hearing of the Advisory Committee on Objections.

Decision on Objection

After the hearing, you will receive the decision on your objection from the municipality. The timing of the decision depends on the type of objection. Usually, it is made within 12 weeks after the deadline for submitting the objection has passed. The municipality can extend this period once by a maximum of 6 weeks. You will then receive written notification.
