Education for children and young people from Ukraine
All children have a right to good education. That also applies to children from Ukraine living temporarily with their parents as refugees in Breda. These young people and their parents can go to schools in Breda for primary or secondary education. Where necessary, these schools will contact the Education Information Centre (Onderwijsinformatiepunt) or make an appointment with the staff at this centre.
Children aged 4 to 6 years
Parents can enrol their young children at a primary school close to where they are living (temporarily).
Children aged 6 to 12 years
Parents of children up to the age of 12 years should contact a primary school close to where they are living (temporarily). If an intake meeting is needed, the school will arrange this with someone from the Eerste Opvang Anderstaligen (First admission of foreign-language speakers).
In our area, this education is mainly provided by the Eerste Opvang Anderstaligen (First admission of foreign-language speakers) at the De Fontein primary school in Breda.
Young people aged 12 to 18 years
Parents of young people from 12 to 18 years can contact the Internationale Schakelklas (ISK - International Transition Class) at the Curio school in Breda. This is the organisation that provides the education. Call (088) 209 7060 or send an email to isk@curio.nl.
Secondary school for professional training: Breda doesn't have an English-language secondary school for professional training.
